About Me

I was born in Scotland, have lived in Japan & Germany, and I now reside in Winchester, and hopefully by now I’ve gained some worldly experience from my travels! My early career had me focussed on electronics, computers and technology, however I’ve always been interested in photography and people, so it’s no surprise that these interests led me to into portrait photography. I have been an active semi-pro photographer for over 10 years and for me, classifying myself as a semi-pro means I have the skill and ability to produce great results, but I don’t dedicate 100% of my time to this. I think that not spending 24/7 behind my camera keeps my enthusiasm high for when I do shoot.

It is a great satisfaction to me when people are delighted with portraits I’ve taken of them, or when viewers compliment my work. I have photographed many people, young and old, in many different styles as seen in my Galleries, but in all cases, what’s important is being able to connect with my subjects, to make them feel comfortable and to allow them to achieve the portraits they want. I am committed to taking the time to listen and understand people and their needs. Whether it’s a capture of physical beauty, or a portrayal of a character, I believe there is something fantastic in us all and we can all be the subject of a great portrait.

If the photographer is interested in the people in front of his lens, and if he is compassionate, it’s already a lot. The instrument is not the camera but the photographer.
